On April 23, 2026, MITRE and The Weather Company announced a collaboration under which The Weather Company will incorporate MITRE's Weather 1K, a high-resolution AI training data set, into its Global High-Resolution Atmospheric Forecasting system (GRAF) to develop more accurate forecasts.

- Weather 1K was built using MITRE's Federal AI Sandbox, powered by an NVIDIA DGX H100 SuperPOD with 248 NVIDIA H100 GPUs and 9 PB of storage.
- The Weather Company stated the aim is to develop the world's first 1-km AI-based forecasting system.
